Hearth Broom with Harvested Handle

$85.00

This hearth broom features a wooden handle harvested from the woods behind my home and air-dried for over a year to ensure proper seasoning and strength. The bark was carefully removed using a shave mule built by my husband and a draw knife smithed by a local artisan and friend, fitted with walnut handles—my favorite wood to work with. Each broom is bound by hand on a broom-tying table built by my dad.

Lighter in both color and weight than my usual hardwood handles, this broom carries a different feel in the hand—easy to work with, well-balanced, and full of quiet character. Sustainably sourced and thoughtfully made, it reflects not only the materials of the land, but the care, skill, and love of the people and tools involved in its making.

Care & Use

Use for sweeping hearths, stove fronts, and hard floors. Shake out ash and debris after use. Always hang by the leather hanging loop when not in use. Never store bristle-side down, as this can bend and weaken the broomcorn over time. Keep dry between uses. With regular work, the broomcorn will soften and wear naturally, becoming better suited to your hand and your space.

Materials: wood, broomcorn, blackberry nylon twine, leather hanging loop.

Dimensions: approx. (Hanging by loop) 34”x7”x3”

Products ship on Mondays and Fridays each week.

No returns or exchanges accepted.
